Somebody sent me a poem<\/a> that was written
by an elderly person. \u00a0It implied that the caretaker was looking down
on the other. It upset me and I wrote this in response while I was caring for my Dad.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nA very nice poem,
\nnot necessarily true.
\nSome of us young’ns
\nwonder what we should do.

\nWhy do you think
\nit is pity we feel?
\nWhen love is the reason
\nthat makes all this real.\n<\/p>

\nWithout some reaction
\nit’s tough to decide.
\nWould you rather we did it
\nor just stand aside?

\nAre you happy in there?
\nShould we just let you stare?
\nOr, should we be active?
\nAnd help keep you attractive?\n<\/p>

\nAn eternity to remember the past.
\nWhat do we do about tomorrow?
\nDo we help you get in the “damn” chair
\nor just let you sit there and stare?

\n“I do wish you’d try”
\nIs our way of saying.
\nThe mechanics of living
\nare important to life.\n<\/p>

\nHow can we let
\na loved one, a friend,
\nSit and stare at the past
\nwhen there’s a future to tend?

\nIt’s not whether we win or lose
\nbut how we play the game.
\nAnd the games not over
\n’til it’s over.\n<\/p>\n
