Kiki's Notebook - Job Sites *<^(O)~~

I've spent some time compiling an extensive (though not exhaustive) list of job sites. I've separated out some of the ones that I think are the best - your mileage may vary. I highly recommend you create a folder entitled "best search" in your favorites or bookmarks list. Then, when you come across a particularly useful job site, you can include its link in there.

Naturally, I do not recommend that you try to go through all of these sites in one or two days! You'll find the list much more manageable if you go at it in chunks of two or three per day. Before submitting your resume to any of these sites, first check if there are any jobs you'd be interested in applying to. Chances are, if there are no jobs of the kind you want, there won't be any employers or recruiters looking at that job site for you!

Realize, too, that posting resumes on resume databases is a passive way to go about getting a job. Chances are small, but still there, that you'll be found that way. However, the databases are good places to store your resume so that you can more conveniently apply to positions that you find.

If you don't have a resume or cover letter yet - or you're not sure that it's good enough - check out the Help sites first. These will give you tips on massaging your resume and cover letter into a job-acquiring machine - or a close facsimile thereof.

Let me know if you discover any other job Web sites that you think are particularly helpful.
